While dry skin types may enjoy the new ILIA sunscreen serum, I feel like it would be too greasy for oily and acne-prone skin types. ILIA C Beyond Triple Serum SPF 40 is designed to streamline your skincare, so it theoretically replaces your Vitamin C serum, tinted moisturizer, and sunscreen.
One of my very first Instagram posts was the ILIA lipstick over seven years ago! Started by Canadian entrepreneur Sasha Plasvic, ILIA is a wildly popular clean makeup brand sold everywhere from Sephora to Nordstrom. There’s just a lot of other cleansers out there at the same price point that I’d prefer to get over Honest Beauty’s. But the Honest Beauty one is not a product I’d personally buy again.

I purchased the Honest Beauty gel cleanser because of the rave reviews but this one lands in my Honesy Beauty “Worst of” category unfortunately. It might not be moisturizing enough for truly dry skin and too heavy for oily skin. While Honest Beauty says it works for all skin types, I find that this would work best for combination skin.

Another suit was brought against Google in 2023 for illegally monopolizing the advertising technology market. Later that month, both Facebook and Alphabet agreed to “cooperate and assist one another” in the face of investigation into their online advertising practices. Honest Beauty Review (what’s good, bad and ok)
It was ruled in 2025 by the Justice Department alongside 17 other states that Google operates a monopoly in online advertising technology. Later in 2019, some workers accused the company of retaliating against internal activists. Google CEO Sundar Pichai accused Damore of violating company policy by “advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace”, and he was fired on the same day. Google became Alphabet’s largest subsidiary and the umbrella company for Alphabet’s Internet interests. On August 10, 2015, Google announced plans to reorganize its various interests as a conglomerate named Alphabet Inc. Technology news website Recode reported that the company was purchased for $400 million, yet the source of the information was not disclosed. Google has been criticized for continuing to collect location data from users who had turned off location-sharing settings. The lawsuit claims Google collected data from users who had specifically opted out of tracking. Under the terms of the settlement Google agreed to destroy billions of data records to settle a lawsuit claiming it secretly tracked the internet use of people who thought they were browsing privately. On January 21, 2019, French data regulator CNIL imposed a record €50 million fine on Google for breaching the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. On October 8, 2018, a class action lawsuit was filed against Google and Alphabet due to “non-public” Google+ account data being exposed as a result of a bug that allowed app developers to gain access to the private information of users.

On May 1, 2023, Google placed an ad against the Brazilian Congressional Bill No. 2630, an anti-disinformation law that was about to be approved, on its search homepage in Brazil, calling on its users to ask congressional representatives to oppose the legislation.
Try new AI products and experiments
Following the success of ChatGPT and concerns that Google was falling behind in the AI race, Google’s senior management issued a “code red” and a “directive that all of its most important products—those with more than a billion users—must incorporate generative AI within months”. In May 2022, Google announced that the company had acquired California based, MicroLED display technology development and manufacturing Start-up company Raxium. In April 2021, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google ran a years-long program called “Project Bernanke” that used data from past advertising bids to gain an advantage over competing for ad services. In response, Google threatened to close off access to its search engine in Australia. Such measures included slowing down hiring for the remainder of 2020, except for a small number of strategic areas, recalibrating the focus and pace of investments in areas like data centers and machines, and non-business essential marketing and travel.
